To forgo these things was to be "straightedge". Thelifestyle that I had chosen had been chosen by many within the largerskateboard culture. Since then, I have learned that skateboarders often share muchmore in common than skateboarding. Myself, I also juggle, do graphicdesign, and play percussion. I have found other skater/juggler/graphicdesigner/percussionists! It's not usually the case the skaters fill allfour roles, but skaters seem to be inclined to be artist of musicians ofsome sort. Recently a video came out called "Caught Clean" mixingprofessional skateboarding and professional juggling, paying homage to thefact that many people do both. The self discoveries from this were simple and not new. People thathave some things in common probably have other things in common. Peoplethat are like-minded tend to find each other and hang out.
